Advocacy
The Emily Program Foundation is a strong supporter of advocacy efforts targeted at making a difference in our communities and across the United States.
Turning up the volume on eating-disorder related issues.
The more we talk, the more people will hear about the life-threatening affects of eating disorders and the obstacles to recovery. More talk will lessen the shame and stigma associated with eating disorders. Ongoing and future advocacy efforts include:
- Meeting personally with policy makers in Minnesota and Washington, D.C. to share real-life stories of how eating disorders impact individuals, families and communities.
- Removing obstacles to care – mediating and advising individuals with eating disorders who need assistance communicating with insurance providers.
- Legal advocacy – Helping to ensure individuals have access to the levels of care they are entitled to under their health insurance.
